The first major announcement for the 2026 Essence Festival of Culture has arrived, and the early lineup promises another unforgettable celebration of music, culture, and Black excellence in New Orleans.
Festival organizers revealed the first wave of performers scheduled to take the stage at the Caesars Superdome during the annual Fourth of July weekend celebration, set for July 3–5, 2026.
This year’s initial lineup highlights powerhouse women in music, bringing together legendary icons and contemporary chart-toppers.

Among the first artists announced are Cardi B, Patti LaBelle, Brandy and Monica, alongside modern R&B and hip-hop stars Kehlani and Latto.
Cardi B Makes Her Essence Festival Debut

While Cardi B has been one of the most influential voices in hip-hop over the past decade, 2026 will mark her first full performance at Essence Festival. The Bronx-born rapper is currently touring nationally with her Little Miss Drama Tour, and fans are eager to see her bring that same high-energy performance to the Superdome stage.
Brandy and Monica Reunite After Successful Tour

R&B fans will also get a special treat as Brandy and Monica continue their celebrated musical reunion. The duo spent much of 2025 touring together on The Boy Is Mine Tour, performing their classic hits individually and together.
Their tour included a packed stop at Smoothie King Center, where audiences relived the magic of their iconic duet and decades of solo success. The pair recently appeared together on the cover of Essence magazine, further cementing their legacy as two of R&B’s most influential voices.
New Voices Join the Essence Stage
Two artists will be making their Essence Festival debut in 2026.
Atlanta rapper Latto, known for her bold Southern style and hits like “Big Mama,” continues to dominate the hip-hop charts and has become one of the most recognizable voices in modern rap.
Meanwhile, R&B singer Kehlani arrives at the festival following major critical acclaim. Her single “Folded” reached the Top 10, and she recently won Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song at the 68th Grammy Awards.
A Legendary Return
Few performers have the history with Essence Festival that Patti LaBelle does. The legendary vocalist has delivered unforgettable performances at the festival over the years and has also been honored in tribute segments celebrating her contributions to soul and R&B music.
At the 2025 festival, LaBelle made a special appearance during a show curated by Jill Scott, reminding audiences why she remains one of the most beloved voices in American music.
More Announcements Coming Soon
Festival organizers say additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks, building anticipation for what is expected to be another historic celebration of Black culture, music, and community in New Orleans.
This first wave of performers spans eras, genres, and artistic approaches, highlighting women whose influence continues to resonate across audiences and across the music industry. Festival organizers say more performers, special guests, and expanded programming will be revealed through a series of curated announcements leading up to July.
Beyond the evening concerts at the Caesars Superdome, the daytime programming of the Essence Festival of Culture will once again transform the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center into a vibrant hub where culture, creativity, and commerce meet.
